Intro to Organic Farming and Gardening Course

Georgia Organics will host an introductory class on February 2 to kick off their Organic Farming and Gardening Course, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., every other Saturday, at Cane Creek Farm, in Cumming, Georgia. Homemade muffins and freshly brewed coffee will be available and a delicious vegetarian lunch of fresh produce grown on the farm will be served around noon.

The course is led by Lynn Pugh, an experienced teacher and farmer with a degree in biology, an MS degree in plant pathology, and an EdS degree in curriculum development. Full course topics include the fundamentals of organic growing, including soils, plant biology, insects, disease and weed control, composting, crop management, marketing and certification. Students will participate in field trips to other farms, view educational videos and perform plenty of farm tasks.
