Dash for Water Conservation

March 19 to 25 is the official Fix a Leak Week, sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and locals can get in on the water-conservation action at the sixth annual Water Drop Dash 5K and Water Festival.

The Water Drop Dash, to be held at 8 a.m. March 24, will start at the Chattahoochee Nature Center and continue along the Chattahoochee River. A $15 kids’ fun run and a CNC Water Festival with games, prizes, face painting and more will follow the race. Entry to the festival is free with participation.

In addition to environmental advocacy and awareness, participants can use the 5K to boost their own running careers. “We are collaborating with the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District in mobilizing runners to support this race, to make it the premiere Peachtree Qualifier,” DeAnn Fordham, senior development director for the CNC, said in a recent press release.

Qualifiers will receive a chip timer on their race numbers for qualifying.

Participation is $35, or $45 the day of the event, with a $3 discount for parties of four or more. To register for the race, visit WaterDropDash.com.
