Ayurveda – A Three-Part Series... And More!

Mar 01, 2021 02:48PM ● By Paul Chen
Ayurveda, along with Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of two ancient healing enhancement and maintenance systems in the world. With millennia of experience and success, a large portion of the West still has much to learn from the East about health, wellness, and living in alignment with nature.

Discovering Ayurveda: Part 1 of 3

According to Dr. Marc Halpern, founder and director of The California College of Ayurveda, “Ayurveda is considered to be the mother of all healing sciences, and yoga is its corollary… Ayurveda is the healing side of yoga; yoga is the spiritual side of Ayurveda.”

The Fire of Life: Ayurveda & Digestion, Part 2 of 3

From the Ayurvedic perspective, a healthy digestive system is the cornerstone of health and well-being, and every disease is believed to arise from inefficient digestion. People might eat what they think are the best of foods, organic and unprocessed, but if they are not digesting, absorbing and eliminating them properly, then undigested foods are stored in organs, tissues, the brain, cells and energy channels, according to Ayurveda.

Panchakarma: Ayurveda’s Revitalizing Therapies, Part 3 of 3

Ayurvedic Panchakarma spa treatments and body therapies can have far-reaching effects. Unlike many Western therapies that focus solely on the physical body, Ayurvedic therapies are designed to balance one’s state of health on many levels. For example, someone who has anxiety will receive grounding and warming oils that nourish the nervous system. Conversely, if one feels sluggish or lethargic mentally and physically, the treatments will focus on invigorating oils and massage that will stimulate the flow of energy to body, mind and spirit.

Gedalia Genin is the author of our three-part series on Ayurveda, which ran from September through November, 2019.

Gedalia has helped women uncover new paths to health and vitality by drawing on a wealth of holistic practices: Ayurveda, meditation, essential oils, gemstones, Marma, breathwork, sound healing, nutritional advice, herbs, yoga, intuitive guidance and creativity.

She holds a Ph.D in Traditional Naturopathy, a four-year certificate in hands-on healing from Mount Soma in Asheville, as well as a Marma Certificate from The Ayurvedic Institute, New Mexico. She has also traveled to India with Vasant Lad for a clinical Ayurvedic program.

Her book Enough Drugs I am a Woman and Can Heal Naturally: A Practical Guide To Feeling Your Best, published in 2018 and available on Amazon, offers readers a host of tools that empower them to take back their health on all levels—body, mind and spirit.

Since publishing our three-part series on Ayurveda, we have continued to offer articles about the wisdom of this ancient practice. Here are the articles that followed up the original series.
