Fruit Tree Sale Supports Atlanta Local Food Initiative
The Atlanta Local Food Initiative (ALFI) Incredible, Edible, Grow-it-Yourself Fruit Tree, Vine and Berry Bush Sale is in progress through February 23, with early-bird specials through January 8. This annual sale is a fundraiser for ALFI, a network committed to growing a local food system that nourishes the people, environment, economy and communities in Metro Atlanta.
Purchase of a fruit tree gives the buyer a complimentary pass to the Georgia Organics Conference Expo, held February 23, where fruit trees will be available for pick-up. Varieties of trees and bushes include apple, fig, kiwi, paw paw, pear, persimmon, plum, pomegranate, nectarine, hazelnut and muscadine.
More information about fruit tree varieties, planting tips and examples of past plantings are available online at AtlantaLocalFood.org.
