World Peace Café, in Sandy Springs, has closed its peaceful doors after six years of offering vegetarian and vegan fare in a relaxed setting with volunteer servers, nutritious food and an atmosphere of spirituality and humanity. Proceeds from the Café supported efforts to bring peace to the community through meditation classes, meditation retreats and classes on Buddhist psychology for everyday life. It was the first full-service World Peace Café in the U.S., joining several around the world.
The Loving Hut, also a vegetarian café, has taken over the storefront. Atlanta’s Kadampa Meditation Center is still going strong, offering classes in modern Buddhism to help people achieve lasting mental peace and happiness through meditation and related practices.
