Shaping Shades of Gray Offers Yoga Classes and Training

A program for seniors, Shaping Shades of Gray, offered by HY-DY Inc., features several weekly yoga classes at local community centers, as well as yoga teacher training. Tuesday classes include Mat Wall and Standing Techniques at 10 a.m. at the Exchange Intergeneration Center, and Chair Yoga at 3 p.m. at the Calvin Court Senior Resident Center. A yoga class is also offered at the Ronald Bridges Center at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The next yoga teacher training course begins in February 2015.

Small group intensives offers semi-private sessions targeting participants’ specific needs, including yoga principles and practice, stretching, breathing, strengthening and counseling on nutrition and lifestyle. The Shaping Shades of Gray program is directed by Dr. Naima Lewis, who trains yoga teachers in the specific knowledge and techniques necessary to assist those in the transformational years to achieve greater health and longevity.

Participants in the training program receive yoga alliance 200-hour certification, skills to teach any age, with a special focus on 55-to-75-year-olds, CEU credits and affordable quality programming.
