Inside Energy Healing: Stories from Healers and Their Patients
Mindy: Seventy-five-year-old “Joanie” was referred to me by a doctor for pain in her pelvis and bladder. None of the standard medical tests showed anything was wrong, but Joanie was in intense pain all the time, every day.
Joanie told me that she had been sexually abused as a child. She had also experienced several major losses in her life, which left her “checked out” emotionally and dissociated from life. She wasn’t able to remember much of her early life. I worked with Joanie once a week for several months. Her pelvic pain went away completely. As we continued to work, she underwent a complete transformation. She learned how to feel her body and to feel safe for the first time in her life. This allowed her to finally grieve and to let go of the intense shame she had carried most of her life. Early life memories also returned. Joanie is now like a kid in a candy store, sharing spiritual work with other women.
Joanie: I was referred to Mindy by my physician about one year ago. I was experiencing a lot of pain, both physical and emotional. I had been having chronic pelvic pain, UTI symptoms and discomfort most days and every night. Each test my doctor ran for urinary infections came back negative. The pain I felt was accompanied by much sadness.
In my sessions with Mindy, I talked about what I was experiencing. This would be followed by time on the table, relaxation and energy healing. Over the course of my weekly sessions, memories arose of sexual abuse from years past and layers of my feelings were released. I had buried my pain, but it was very much present in my body as the years went by. I have been free of pelvic pain for months and the bladder issues are also completely gone. I now know a peace and aliveness I have never felt before! I am so grateful my doctor had the wisdom to recommend this treatment. Working with Mindy has changed my life.
Adele: Fifty-four-year-old “Sandy” had been diagnosed with a terminal case of a rare kind of bone cancer several years prior to her first visit with me, and the disease was progressing. Her physicians had told her there was nothing they could do. Emotionally, she was exhausted, depressed and overwhelmed with sorrow. A lifetime of being in abusive relationships and a miserable marriage had left her feeling like life was not worth living. The only thing keeping her alive, she told me, was her two amazing sons.
We worked together for several months. The energy work and the deep conversations we had together were powerful. Heavy layers of shame, grief and guilt lifted away. Sandy started to bloom. She became happy for the first time in her life, and for the first time, she began to develop real connections and friendships with people who cared about her.
One day, Sandy came in and told me her physicians were shocked. According to her latest CT scans, her terminal condition was somehow reversing. She was getting better and her physicians didn’t understand why. They chalked it up to “just one of those things” and told her she didn’t need to see them as frequently as she had been.
From a medical perspective, spontaneous remission and healing sometimes happen; it’s part of the mystery. But Sandy felt an inner knowing that our work together played an integral part in her recovery. I was honored to be part of that journey.
Sandy: Through working with Adele, I am happier and healthier than I have ever been. Before, I was so lost and I didn’t even want to be here. I had no energy, and I had been on antidepressants for decades. Now I am completely off meds. I’m so much more energized and I know why I am here. I now want to help other women who are where I have been. My work with Adele has been a blessing.
Glenda: My husband had open heart surgery several years ago. He’d only been out of surgery and off the breathing equipment for a few hours when they had gotten him up to sit in a chair. Exhausted and in a lot of pain, he was not breathing very deeply, so his oxygen saturation kept dipping to 85 percent. I was only allowed a 10-minute visitation, so when they said they were going to put him back on the breathing equipment if he didn’t start breathing more deeply on his own, I stood behind his chair and placed my hands on his shoulders. The second I touched him, his oxygen on the monitor went from 85 percent to 93 percent. Curious, I removed my hands from his shoulders and he immediately went back down to 83 percent. I repeated removing and replacing my hands a few more times just to be sure it was actually me having the effect. When they asked me to leave, I took my hands away for the last time, but his oxygen stayed at 95 percent and he had no further breathing issues or oxygen-saturation issues during the rest of his stay. Thankfully, he was saved from the trauma of being intubated again.
Chad: I was in so much pain. When Glenda touched me, it felt like electricity went through my whole body, taking the exhaustion and pain with it. Her hands on my shoulders made it easier for me to breathe more deeply. The healing energy was exactly what my body needed in that moment.
