Every Body Pull Up a Chair!
Develop a Professional and Personal Chair Practice.
Please join yoga therapist Patricia Schmidt (C-IAYT, E-RYT500; YACEP and APD provider) for an immersive weekend exploring the accessibility of yoga through chair-based yoga practices. With sessions targeted for yoga therapists and general yoga instructors, as well as sessions open to members of the public, the weekend aims to amplify ongoing conversations around yoga for every body, to educate yoga providers around chair-based practice, and to extend the reach of accessible yoga in the Southeast. Participants will have a deeper understanding of their own chair-based practices; of cueing, language, and sequencing to support chair-based instruction; and a wider understanding of yoga practice in an accessible setting. Sessions include instruction and practice of restorative and active yoga asana, in-depth discussion of yoga philosophy that underpins accessible offerings, examination of cueing and language habits that present obstacles to accessibility, and workshop formatting around common asana and flow-sequencing to include chair-based practice. Please see individual session descriptions as you register to ensure the topics covered relate to your interests, and are appropriate for your level of experience. Single-session attendance is available for some portions of the weekend, and full weekend attendance will provide 20 CEUs through YA and IAYT (CEUs through IAYT are available for current C-IAYTs only).
