"Michael delights in the experimental and abstract, bridging multiple medias and techniques to produce visual poems that are simultaneously paintings, poems and sometimes even performances. Deeply personal, his work expresses the vulnerability of real life, relating to topics of childhood neglect, addiction, and mental illness with the goal of relating to his audience. But the true heart of Michael’s art is the joy of creative expression, and its power to bring purpose and sanity out of this mess of existence. Interlaced with humor, a certain strangeness, and the unexpected, Michael hopes to build a relationship that defies words, and to have fun along the way. Michael has a number of publications spanning a variety of small presses, including his latest chapbook “The Alibi”, published by Simulacrum Press (Ontario).
