Kosha Mapping

Yoga philosophy teaches that there are five layers or “sheaths” of energy surrounding an individual’s soul. These sheaths are called the koshas, and they are said to be encased or nested within each other, starting with the physical body as the first sheath and moving inward to more subtle layers of being.

Kosha mapping is a guided meditation that focuses on cultivating awareness of the individual koshas as a way to journey toward greater self-realization and connection with your inner world. In this experience, we will walk through a meditation focused on each kosha with time devoted after each to integrate and record your experience.

What you’ll need:

- Dress comfortably and in layers. Much of the practice will be lying down, so plan accordingly, especially if you get cold easily.

- We’ll be recording our experiences at certain points of the meditation. Supplies to do so will be provided, but if you have a favorite journal and pen, or art supplies, please feel free to bring them with you. Please note: you do NOT need to be a visual artist or writer to participate in kosha mapping!

- Yoga mat, and any props you prefer that are not provided by the studio.

***This workshop counts for 2 CE hours with Yoga Alliance under the category of yoga principles and philosophy.
