Tai Chi Seminar for Beginners
Learn a short, balanced Tai Chi Form in this 4-hour seminar over two days. Taught by Jude Hasken, longtime student of Master Xu, this beginner-friendly experience builds balance, health, and moving meditation skills.
Learn a short, complete Tai Chi Form in this 4 hour seminar, held on 2 consecutive days. In the 1980’s Master Tingsen Xu, of Emory University, assembled a short Yang-Style Form for his undergraduate students, which he called 10 Forms. In fact, there are only 6 different moves in this Form, but they are some of the most basic of all Tai Chi moves. The 10 Forms are done symmetrically, that is, on both left and right sides. This symmetry is very unusual in Tai Chi, and it makes this little Form enjoyable, balanced and easy to learn.
Tai Chi has many aspects and benefits. It is excellent for your physical balance and the prevention of falling. Once you learn the moves, it becomes a Moving Meditation. And because one moves from one's center or Core, in slow circular motions, the 12 Meridians are cleared and smoothed out. This is the very definition of good health in Chinese Traditional Medicine.
Jude Hasken is bringing this beautiful Form to Decatur Healing Arts. He was one of Master Xu’s long time students, and has been teaching Tai Chi for over 20 years.
In this seminar you will be introduced to Tai Chi, focusing on the basic principles and benefits. Part of the time will be spent seated for short lectures, but most of the time will be spent learning the 6 moves. As part of the seminar you will receive a thumb-drive copy of a video of the Form from different views, including Tai Chi warm-ups. If you have ever been curious about Tai Chi, or just would like a good introduction to it, this seminar is for you. When complete, you will have an understanding of Tai Chi basics, and be able to perform a short symmetrical Form with which to practice. Wear loose clothing, no street shoes, and bring something to take notes on, if you wish.
