Jekyll Island to Host Georgia Organics’ 2014 Conference

Georgia Organics will host their 17th annual conference: Green Acres: Saving the Planet One Bite at a Time, on Jekyll Island, on February 21 and 22, spotlighting agriculture’s impact on the environment and the many ways organic growers are essential to restoring natural resources in Georgia and across the world.

One of two keynote speakers, Chuck Leavell is founder of Mother Nature Network (mnn.com), a long-leaf pine tree conservationist, native Georgian and pianist for the Rolling Stones. Ken Cook is president and co-founder of the Environmental Working Group, one of the environmental community’s most prominent and effective critics of establishment agriculture and U.S. farm policy.

The conference will include farm tours, in-depth workshops, educational sessions, a Green Acres Expo and the famous Farmers’ Feast, featuring organic, locally produced food prepared by talented local chefs. The conference also includes farmers, experts and advocates from the Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers group, to strengthen the good food movement in our shared Southern region.

Location: Jekyll Island Convention Center, 75 Beach View Dr. N., Jekyll Island. For more information, visit GeorgiaOrganics.org/conference.
