Peachtree Yoga Celebrating 20th Anniversary

One of Atlanta’s longest-established yoga studios is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.

Peachtree Yoga Center in Sandy Springs is throwing an open house April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that will feature free classes, raffle prizes, offerings from visiting vendors including food and tastings of tea and ayurvedic drinks, and 20 percent off all items in the studio’s retail store.

Graham Fowler founded Peachtree Yoga Center in 1999 and owned it until June 2018, when he sold it to one of his teachers, Ilona Moore. Fowler continues to be involved in Peachtree as its spiritual director; he conducts teacher trainings, carries weekly classes and teaches meditation.

Moore, who now has many months under her belt, says she “feels like I have taken off and I’m in flight. It feels awesome!” She’s been doing spot renovations: a remodeled office, a new sink and countertops in the kitchenette. And she’s been expanding offerings, as her student community has requested. Just last month Peachtree hosted the Swedish shaman Bart Smyth for a weekend of healing, and it hosted vibrational therapist Michael Burke several times in the second half of 2018.

Beyond those new directions, Moore is thinking about adding more retreats in addition to its traditional New Year’s Retreat, last held at the Elohee Center in north Georgia.
