Owners Marti and Marty Yura are celebrating ten years of offering what they call “intelligent” yoga at Vista Yoga in Decatur. While the couple has been trained in a variety of modalities, both have been greatly influenced by their Santa Fe-based teachers, Tias and Surya Little, and their teaching technique, Prajna Yoga. Vista Yoga hosts Tias Little at their studio every other year, and its Teacher Training programs, which are offered annually at both the 200- and 300-hour level, incorporate the Prajna Yoga methodology.
Vista Yoga’s offerings are based on alignment and tradition with an emphasis on all eight limbs of yoga. Events at the studio reflect their approach with a variety of workshops, teachers, and community gatherings. It has also become something of a home base for the kirtan community in Atlanta by offering regular concerts throughout the year.
Marti Yura brings more than 30 years of experience to her leadership; she opened her first fitness studio in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1982. Marty brings a great deal to the partnership as well, having guided transformative practices with groups and individuals for many years and melding his background in psychology with his training in yoga and mindfulness.
Marty says he expects to see continued robust growth as the studio continues to evolve and grow.
